Respondus Monitor & Lockdown

Uses a student’s webcam and industry-leading video analytics to prevent cheating during non-proctored exams.

  • Tuesday and Thursday – 1:00pm

Respondus 4.0 Online Assessments

Respondus 4.0 is a tool for converting and importing exams from Microsoft Word directly to Moodle.

Blackboard Collaborate

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday – 10:00am

Moodle

Alternative Assessment Strategies

Daily Drop-in Support – Join via Collaborate

Announcements

  • On February 18, 2020, builders and educators came together for a workshop that highlighted collaboration opportunities in green construction titled Building net Zero: Constructing Affordable STEP Code Buildings in the Okanagan.
  • On November 1 & 2, 2019, the Let Them Eat Dirt Outdoor Play Conference explored the benefits of nature-based play for children. The event featured keynote speaker Dr. Brett Finlay, author of "Let Them Eat Dirt".
  •  On June 13, 2019, NSERC announced funding for 17 new technology access centres across Canada, including $1.75 M for the BC Beverage Technology Access Centre (BCBTAC) headquartered at Okanagan College's Penticton campus.

Applied Research

Upcoming NSERC Funding Opportunities

  • Idea to Innovation (I2I) Grants
    Value: $15,000 - 350,000 (depending on phase and maturity of pre-competitive development)
  • The I2I grant is designed to accelerate the pre-competitive development of promising technology transfer opportunities between the college or university sector and a new or established Canadian company.
  • Expressions of interest due in Learning & Applied Research:
    • April 22, 2020 (June 2020 competition)
 

Ongoing NSERC Funding Opportunities

  • Engage Grants for colleges
    Value: up to $25,000
  • Applications deadline: Applications accepted on an ongoing basis
  • Notification of decision: 4 to 6 weeks from application date
