Civil Engineering Technology Diploma program Information
Applications open – November 1 for the following September intake. First Come, first served. There are only 40 seats available, so apply ASAP!
Length of program – 2.5 years with 12 months of Co-op work (paid)
Program – Full time, approximately 32 hours/week of classes, 0 to 35 hours/week of homework (depending on what mark you want to earn) for four semesters. The fours semesters are: 1. September to December, 2. January to April, 3. January to April, 4. September to December. The co-op work terms are May to December and May to August, in between the school semesters.
National Accreditation – The program is nationally (across Canada) accredited.
Co-op Work Terms (12 months in total) – There are jobs, but most are not in Kelowna. The average Co-op job posted wage was $21 in 2018
Instructors – All have worked in the industry and several of them still work in the industry part time
Bridging programs to get a Civil Engineering Degree – To University of BC Okanagan (UBCO), University of BC Vancouver (UBCV), University of Victoria (UVic) and Lakehead University
Graduate Students – Average wage was $25/hour in 2017. Most get work in private consulting firms (80%) and the remainder with the government. Lots of graduate opportunities as long as the student is willing to relocate to where the work is.
