After 13 years with Okanagan College, Jane Lister will be retiring this week.

A long-time community leader in Vernon, Jane joined Okanagan College in 2011 as Regional Dean, North Okanagan. Prior to this, she was the former Vice Chair of the OC Board of Governors. Jane transitioned to a new role last year as Special Advisor to the Provost (Academic Policy Development).

“Over the past 13 years at Okanagan College, I have been very fortunate to work with an amazing group of colleagues who are (were) dedicated to making a difference to students in our communities,” said Jane. “Whether it was building a trades center, creating an Indigenous garden, developing new programs, enhancing student services, keeping the lights/tech on, or guiding me along in policy work, everyone has been incredibly helpful, thoughtful, and great fun to work with. It has been an interesting journey full of generosity from many people. I have learned so much – and that’s what it’s all about. I am off to explore different parts of the world for a while but will be back to follow my passion of community development. Wishing you all many cups of kindness.”

Some highlights from Jane’s time at the College include overseeing work with the town of Coldstream and the Agricultural Land Commission to build the athletic track next to the Vernon campus, as well as her involvement in student housing initiatives and the development of the K’nmaĺka? Sənqâĺtən Indigenous Garden.

“I want to give special thanks to Jane for all of her hard work and dedication to Okanagan College,” said Samantha Lenci, Provost and VP Academic. “I know I speak for all of us when I say that we truly appreciate what she has contributed to OC over the years, particularly in Vernon.”

Please join us in congratulating Jane on her retirement and wishing her well. Jane’s last day with OC is April 3, 2024.
