New COVID-19 Health Orders announced for Interior Health Region

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Interior Health (IH) have issued new health orders to address the continued increase in cases in the IH region.

Effective midnight tonight, Friday, August 20, the following measures will apply to the entire IH region and apply to all campuses/centres of Okanagan College:

Masks

There is a region-wide mandatory mask order for all public indoor spaces. The order applies to individuals older than 12 years of age. This means that all students, employees and visitors to Okanagan College will be required to wear a mask while in any College indoor common spaces.

Events and gatherings

  • Indoor organized gatherings are limited to no more than 50 attendees and require a COVID-19 Safety Plan
  • Outdoor organized gatherings are limited to no more than 50 attendees and require a COVID-19 Safety Plan
  • Indoor personal gatherings may only include five people or one other household
  • Outdoor personal gatherings are limited to no more than 50 people

Fitness

Indoor high-intensity group exercise is suspended, while indoor low-intensity group exercise is permitted with group size limits.

Travel

Non-essential travel into or out of the central Okanagan should be avoided, regardless of vaccination status.

Minister Adrian Dix indicated in the press conference that additional information for B.C. post-secondary institutions will be shared next week. The College will share updates as soon as they are available.
