Beware of fake QR codes

IT Security is alerting the OC community to be aware of a phishing scam recently targeting OC email accounts with fake QR codes.

These emails are designed to trick individuals into scanning a non-legitimate QR code that takes you to a malicious site created to install malware, steal personal information, login credentials, or gain access to sensitive company data.

Please note, official communication from Okanagan College will never arrive with an embedded QR code to scan for any reason.

Any email you receive with a QR code should be considered a scam and should not be clicked on or scanned. Please report it immediately as phishing scam to ITSecurity@okanagan.bc.ca.
