way' – weytk – hello to the Okanagan College community, 

I’d like to begin by respectfully acknowledging that our Kelowna, Penticton and Vernon campuses are located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan People, our Salmon Arm campus is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Secwepemc, and our Revelstoke centre is located on the traditional and unceded territories of the Ktunaxa, Secwepemc, Sinixt and Syilx Okanagan Peoples. 

I want to extend an immense thanks to everyone who took time on Sept. 30, the first National Truth and Reconciliation Day, to listen, learn, reflect and engage with the day in personally meaningful ways.  

Now is the time to think about how we can sustain and grow this incredibly important work, as we continue to take vital steps to infuse Indigenous ways of knowing and doing into every aspect of what we do as a College.  

On that note: I’d like to invite you to view a short video message to learn more about the next steps in the journey of Indigenous OC.  

This new chapter will build on the many heartening efforts already underway at the College thanks to members of OC’s Indigenization Task Force and team members, students and community members across the region. 

This is a path on which I hope we can all feel welcome and encouraged to walk together, supporting and learning from one another and Indigenous Peoples of the region, as we go.
