As the weather gets chilly something is heating up the stage at Okanagan College. A supernatural horror story that promises to be a hauntingly good time for attendees.

The Red Dot Players are excited to present The Haunting of Hill House, a psychological horror story about an investigator of supernatural phenomena who arrives at Hill House to unravel its morbid history. The play is written by F. Andrew Leslie and based on the novel by Shirley Jackson. The performance is directed by OC faculty member Sarah Foss.

"I was drawn to the Shirley Jackson classic because although this gothic ghost story was penned in 1959, its narrative still speaks to our deepest fears and most profound emotions,” said Foss "At its core, The Haunting of Hill House is a journey through the labyrinth of a young woman's grief and trauma, expertly entwined with the supernatural. By combining the chilling atmosphere of Hill House and the complexities of the human psyche, this classic tale reminds us that our inner ghosts and haunted memories can be as formidable as any supernatural apparition.”

The show will run October 26 - 29 in the theatre at OC’s Kelowna Campus, 1000 KLO Road at the following times:

  • Thursday, Oct. 26th, 7:00 PM

  • Friday, Oct. 27th, 7:00 PM

  • Saturday, Oct. 28th, 7:00 PM

  • Sunday, Oct. 29th, 2:00 PM

The Haunting of Hill House is being produced by the Red Dot Players, Okanagan College’s community theatre company. The Red Dot Players include Okanagan College students, employees, and alumni, as well as members of the larger community. Everyone is invited to attend the performances.

Tickets are available at www.reddotplayers.com and at the door.

The play is part of the Feminist Horror Festival which is a series of events that consists of a set of film screenings, art activities, a speaker series, book club, activist roundtable and theatre.

The performance promises to delight fans of the horror genre as well as those looking to enjoy an evening supernatural entertainment, said Jeremy Beaulne, Okanagan College Professor and Artistic Director.

“This play is exciting for us to put on and delves into the horror genre, exploring intense themes as we watch supernatural events intensity and unfold into a crisis where the evil forces of Hill House are goaded to a new and fatal fury,” said Beaulne.
