Top Tips for new OC website

With the launch of OC's new website, here are a few helpful tips to get you on your way to navigating with ease.

  1. Action Centre: Need to get to webmail quickly? Wondering where myOkanagan and Moodle are? Click on the arrow by the search bar in the top right corner of the screen – that will flip open an “OC Action Centre” with links to all the things you need to get going on your day! Designed especially for current students and staff, the OC Action Centre has quick links to the pages you need to get to right away.
  2. COVID information: Things are changing on a daily basis, and you need the most up-to-date information. The new COVID-19 information page compiles a lot of information in one place: notices with the latest updates, FAQs and links to critical information like Online Resources, Remote Contacts for available services and health information.
  3. Program Search: What programs does OC offer? What is available on my home campus? The new online Program Search on OC’s website offers users a fast and effective way to narrow down the program options based on their needs. Explore programs by area of study, or filter results by campus, credential and delivery method.
  4. Course Search: Looking to find out the name of an academic or vocational course? Course search will have the answer. Filter by subject or type in part of a course name to see just what is offered at Okanagan College.
  5. Events and Important dates: Wondering what’s going on at OC? Think there might be an important deadline on the horizon? Check out the Events Calendar for a listing of activities planned and important dates on the horizon. The great news is, the calendar is automatically updated: so once a date passes, you don’t have to sift through old information! Have an important event coming up? You can share it with the OC community by submitting online to: https://www.okanagan.bc.ca/submit-an-event-or-important-date
  6. News: Everybody wants to be in the loop. With OC News on the revamped website, there are lots of ways to find out what is happening! Explore news by topic, or just scroll down for the most recent OC stories. Also, with new syndication functionality, news stories will be fed especially to specific pages – so Salmon Arm can learn about what’s happening on their campus page, while Trades students can find out what’s new with their department.
  7. Future Students: Know someone who is investigating their options at OC but they don’t know where to start? Send them a link to the Future Students page. It is home to valuable information about program options, campuses, dates and how to apply.
  8. Trades Training Schedules: Let’s face it: it can be tough keeping track of when Trades programs start and finish. To simplify the process for students, any program page will have Training Schedules listed in the accordions within “Program Details.” With IT’s innovative approach, these can be updated with the click of a button – making it easy for the Trades team to keep the information fresh and up-to-date.
