The flag at the Kelowna campus has been lowered in memory of Gary Brown, a former OUC instructor in the Water Engineering Technology (WET) program, who passed away on Oct. 23.

Gary began teaching in the Water Quality Technology (later WET) program at Okanagan University College in 1992. He retired in 2002.

“Gary was a colourful character who was a founding professor in the WET program (formerly WQT). He was a key developer of the instrumentation programing that laid the groundwork for curriculum we still teach today. Our department is grateful to him for the legacy he contributed to in growing and developing the program in its early years – his efforts have benefited many, many students and will continue to benefit many more who will train for this great career in the years to come,” said Allison O’Neill, Chair of the WET program.

You can read his obituary and find details about a viewing for friends and family on Oct. 27 and a funeral mass on Oct. 28 here. Condolences may be sent to Gary’s family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com.
