When Home Depot employee and OC Women in Trades Training (WITT) student Hannah Greene began showcasing new confidence and skills in her job, her manager Steve Ngui took notice.

After hearing about OC’s Gateway to the Building Trades for Women program that Greene is enrolled in, Ngui and Home Depot decided to support the program by way of a generous tool donation. On Jan. 29, Home Depot gifted the program with a large selection of brand-new tools to help train students in the five trades the program features – plumbing, electrical, automotive, carpentry/joinery and sheet metal.

These tools will strengthen their experience by giving students an opportunity to try different makes and models, develop preferences when shopping for their own tools and being more adaptable to what they may experience on a job site.

The program sees women develop skills, grow confidence and find a path that allows them to build a career in skilled trades to support themselves and their families.
