Shuster named Director of International Education

After an extensive search, Okanagan College has found its new Director of International Education from within. Gordon Shuster, who has served as Acting Director since July, has accepted the role, effective immediately.

Shuster brings considerable leadership experience in and knowledge of International Education. He also brings deep knowledge of Okanagan College. Prior to his current appointment, he served as Manager of International Recruitment since 2018 and has been a member of the International Education team since 2000. Before that, he worked for Continuing Studies and Corporate Training for more than a decade.

“I am so pleased that Gordon has accepted the position of International Education Director,” said Vice President Students Meri Kim Oliver. “Gordon is known and respected throughout Canada and around the world for his work in International Education, recruitment and leadership and he brings great depth to the role from his many years working at Okanagan College. I know he will provide great leadership to the team and develop the work of the department with his unique and student focused approach.”

Shuster is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and holds a diploma in Business Administration from Okanagan College.

He has served on numerous committees and boards across the region and the sector, including the Central Okanagan Local Immigration Partnership (COLIP), British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE), Association of International Educators (NAFSA) Membership Committee and others, as well as various Okanagan College committees and working groups.
