Experience OC, from the safety of home.

The College’s premiere participation event for prospective students is making the leap to the online world, with virtual Experience OC sessions launching next month.

Starting Feb. 16, College professors will welcome prospective students, parents and employers in for program overviews or a glimpse of what a post-secondary classroom is like. Participants will get a first-hand look at the topics covered in these programs, including sustainability, Indigenous and technological issues facing the world today.

Kicking off the series is a two-for-one showcase of the College’s new Applied Bachelor of Arts: Community Research and Evaluation.

“The Applied Bachelor of Arts degree is not only new to Okanagan College, this credential is new to the entire region and designed with the community’s needs in mind as local organizations tackle some of the most pressing social issues: food insecurity, homelessness and addiction, to name just a few,” said Robert Huxtable, Okanagan College Dean of Arts and Foundational Programs.

“For Experience OC, students can get a high-level view of the Applied Bachelor of Arts program, followed up with a deep-dive on a specific topic with faculty members on how they would approach the issue from a Sociology, Psychology and Social Work perspective.”

Scheduled sessions to start off the series include:

  • Feb. 16: Applied Bachelor of Arts in Community Research and Evaluation – program overview
  • Feb. 23: Applied Bachelor of Arts in Community Research and Evaluation – faculty panel discussion
  • Feb. 24: Business Administration
  • Feb. 25: Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Studies
  • March 2: Sustainable Construction Management Technology
  • March 4: Therapist Assistant, Commercial Aviation
  • March 9: Practical Nursing
  • March 11: Common First Year Engineering

More sessions are being scheduled, and visitors are encouraged to sign up for updates as details are finalized.
