Mobility Grant for Airline Travel

OC students who have been accepted into an international activity, study tour or exchange program and are seeking financial assistance for the cost of their airline travel must submit their required documentation for approval to the Department of International Education via the online application below.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, Convention Refugee, or Protected Person living in Canada;
  • Completed at least one semester of Full Time Studies*;
  • Currently Enrolled in *Full Time Studies;
  • Recipients will not be engaging in an international activity, study tour or exchange opportunity in a country from which they have immigrated within the past 10 years; and,
  • Recipients will be in good standing.
  • Guard.me insurance for your entire exchange period including all travel days when you are outside Canada must be purchased with the exception if you are required to be covered under the country or visiting institution’s plan (e.g. Germany or Switzerland). Grants will not be paid until proof of adequate medical insurance has been submitted.

*Full Time Studies = 9 credits/60% course load or 6 credits/40% course load for students with a permanent disability in any credential program at any campus of Okanagan College

Documents Required for Upload:

  1. Documentation verifying acceptance into the international activity, study tour or exchange program (applications may be submitted without acceptance documentation, however, it must be submitted prior to payment of grant funding);
  2. A copy of your confirmed airline booking or a screenshot of a quote in CAD for your date of travel for us to assess the grant amount; and
  3. A copy of your statement of interest.

You may wish to take the following questions into consideration when writing your statement of interest.

  • Why have you chosen this country and program for your international experience?
  • How will the international experience contribute to your current academic program and career goals?
  • What do you expect to learn from this international experience?

Payment of Airline Grant:

Payment will be processed upon submission of confirmed airline booking and copy of guard.me insurance card to mobility@okanagan.bc.ca.

Instructions & Contact:

  • Please answer all questions below carefully and upload all required documents.
  • Submit completed application to International Education Office using the Submit button at the bottom of the application. Applications will be accepted until all funds are committed.

Note: Students who are undertaking longer term international activities may be eligible to receive additional financial support through the Okanagan College Global Education Extended Mobility Grant, which may be applied for through the “Apply for Awards” link in the Financial Aid & Awards section of their myOkanagan.
