Advocating for your Needs in the Workplace

This virtual workshop is for any Okanagan College student or alumni who wants to grow self-advocacy skills in the workplace or work-like settings, including Work Integrated Learning (WIL) which includes practicums, work experience, clinical placements, apprenticeships and co-ops, among others.

Participants will learn to communicate their needs in an effective and positive manner while upholding and asserting their own needs.

Hosted by the Okanagan College's Student, Graduate and Co-op Employment Centre and Counselling Services, this workshop will provide students with information, tools, as well as a safe and supportive space to practice. Students will learn what self-advocacy and assertiveness is, its importance, related skills, and tips to implement with employers.
