Tuition Fees, Deposits, Refunds and Recognition of Prior Learning

The Continuing Studies Department and Okanagan College reserve the right to cancel or postpone a course due to low enrolment, unavailability of instructors, facilities or other unforeseen circumstances. If it is necessary to cancel a course, Okanagan College will provide students with at least 48 hours' notice whenever possible.

All refunds are issued by cheque to the registered student unless there is a Sponsorship Agreement in place. Refunds do not include the cost of books or other supplies. Refunds may take up to six weeks to process.

If the student has not received the materials when they are approved for the refund, then the cost of the materials should be refunded.

Refund policy exceptions are made on compassionate grounds or special circumstances. In such cases a written request for refund, accompanied by appropriate documentation (i.e. medical, court subpoena) must be submitted to the Associate Director for approval. Letters of tuition credit may be considered in some circumstances.

Refund Appeals: Students must submit a completed Refund Appeal Form to the CSCD Director. A decision will be rendered in writing within 30 days, and all decisions are final.

A non-refundable deposit of $200 is required to secure a seat in the program. Exception: A $600 non-refundable deposit is required for the Esthetics and Nail Technology certificate program.

Students must submit a completed CSCT Certificate Request to Withdraw form.

For all certificate programs: To be eligible for a 100% refund of tuition paid (less the $200 non-refundable deposit) the Request to Withdraw must be received no later than 10 working days prior to start date of program.

Refunds are not provided after above notification periods.

Exceptions are made on compassionate grounds. In such cases a written request for refund, accompanied by appropriate documentation (i.e. medical), must be submitted prior to the end of the course or workshop.

Under no circumstances will refunds be granted for requests received after the end of a certificate program, course or workshop.

Refund requests must be made at least two business days (48 hours) prior to the course start date. No refunds are issued for requests received with less than two business days' (48 hours) notice. Students may withdraw by phone, fax, email, mail or in person.

Special refund policies apply to courses where indicated. Check the policy when registering.

Non-Certificate courses with tuition fees of $500 or more will have a five business day refund policy unless an exception is made by the Director.

A $25 administration fee (per camp, per child) applies to all Camp OC cancellations.

A full refund (less a $30 administration fee (per child, per camp)) will be issued if the request to withdraw is made at least 14 days before the camp start date.

Requests made less than 14 days before the camp start date will be refunded at 50%, less a $30 administration fee (per child, per camp).

No refund is provided after the camp/program start date unless there are extenuating circumstances. In such cases a written request for refund or a credit toward another camp, accompanied by appropriate documentation (i.e., medical note). This documentation must be submitted to the Associate Director.

No refund is provided for days missed or forgotten camps.

Camp OC Waitlist Policy

If the camp your child wants to attend is full, please add their name to the waitlist as we do our best to adjust schedules and create new camps to accommodate as many campers as possible.

  • As soon as a spot becomes available the first person on the waitlist will receive an email with the option to enroll in the camp. Please do so online.
  • You have 24 hours to register for the spot before the opportunity will be given to the next person and so on.
  • If you don’t enroll within 24 hours, you will be removed from the waitlist.

Have you already obtained knowledge, skills and competencies that match some of the learning outcomes in one of our certificate programs?  You may be eligible to receive credit towards a certificate.  Learn more about Recognition of Prior Learning and the associated programs.
