On Nov. 19 Dr. Bonnie Henry, the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), issued new orders making mask use mandatory in indoor public spaces and directing British Columbians to limit social activities and forego non-essential travel. Okanagan College’s various directives and documents regarding COVID-19 practices are being updated to reflect the new orders. Post-secondary education was identified by the province as an essential services early in the pandemic, and advice from government is that travel for purposes of education is considered essential travel. As questions arise regarding implications of the new PHO orders, we will address them as quickly as possible, looking to advice from the PHO and from Interior Health and WorkSafeBC.
