Alumni Cider and Wine Order
The Okanagan College Alumni Association offers you the chance to purchase wine and cider from local businesses. Partial proceeds from the sale of the cider and wine through the alumni office will help support programming for graduates, convocation, bursaries and student events and activities.
This time, we're excited to partner with Enactus to add cider to our options. Enactus is a student run organization that works towards social change through entrepreneurship. Their flagship project, Unusually Good Food Co., seeks to combat food insecurity and wastage across the Okanagan. This project began when students found that farmers had to pay to throw away tons of perfectly good, but ugly, apples. Unusually Good partnered with local farmers to take these apples off their hands for free, saving them money and reducing food waste. They then dehydrated the apples into apple chips and donated them to school breakfast programs across the Okanagan. Since then, Unusually Good Food Co. has expanded into selling apple juice and hard apple cider. The proceeds that are gained from their cider, which is produced in partnership with Wards, has allowed them to expand their donations to food banks and even more schools. Learn more here.
To order, please complete the form below by Tuesday, Nov. 28. Be sure to identify the desired varietal(s) and quantities. Your order will be reviewed, taxes calculated and an invoice will be created. Once you receive the invoice, contact the winery with a credit card to complete your purchase. Your purchases will be available for pick up at Central Stores on the Kelowna campus.
We're always looking to partner with businesses in the region. Do you know a business that would be interested in taking part in the program? Please send a note to alumni@okanagan.bc.ca.
