Automotive Service Technician (AST) Apprenticeship

*AST Apprenticeship training is currently undergoing Harmonization*

The Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship (CCDA) is currently undertaking the Harmonization Initiative with 30 Red Seal Endorsed trades by 2020.  The goal of harmonization is to align apprenticeship systems across Canada by making the apprenticeship training requirements more consistent between Provinces and Territories to allow for apprentice mobility.

Adjustments to curriculum has created gaps between current levels and harmonized levels, some of which are covered by gap training. Apprentices currently completing their technical training in the current stream must ensure they complete their technical training before the harmonization date of that specific level or transition into the harmonized system.

Below is a chart outlining the implementation date for harmonized curriculum for each level.
