Industrial Electrician (IE) Apprenticeship

Industrial Electricians inspect, install, troubleshoot, repair and service (includes calibration and preventive/predictive maintenance) electrical equipment such as motors, generators, pumps, heavy duty machines, illumination systems, environmental regulating systems, communication systems; and associated electrical and electronic controls.  Apprentices are required to attend a total 40 weeks of technical training over this 4 year apprenticeship. At this time, Okanagan College currently offers Level 1 and Level 2 Industrial Electrician.   
*IE is currently undergoing Harmonization*
The Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship is currently undertaking the Harmonization Initiative in 30 Red Seal Trades by 2020. British Columbia is an active participant in this initiative. The goal of Harmonization is to substantively align apprenticeship systems across Canada by making the apprenticeship training requirements more consistent in the Red Seal trades. Harmonization Implementation Timeline
 Level 1: Dec 1, 2018
 Level 2: Dec 1, 2019
 Level 3: Dec 1, 2020
 Level 4: Dec 1, 2021

Outcome: Successful completion grants the apprentice with the Certificate of Qualification as an Red Seal Industrial Electrician.

Achieving your Red Seal Endorsement (RSE) will provide you with a set of nationally recognized and transferable skills that will provide you with an opportunity for employment across Canada.
