Teaching Philosophy

Dr. Baldwin supports the educational philosophy of Applied Learning where students have the opportunity to develop a skill set that includes theory, the application of theory to business cases and the use of the theory in a real time practical setting with clients. The resulting skill set allows students to develop core skills, communicate and collaborate. The combination of hard skills such as problem solving are combined with soft skills including the ability to think and react quickly, communicate effectively both in writing and orally, and to work effectively and efficiently in teams.

Work Accomplishments:

Dr. Baldwin has combined his business and legal degrees across a diverse spectrum of organizations including private business, publicly traded corporations and not for profit Societies. He also practiced with Vancouver's oldest law firm and used his business and legal knowledge to start his own consulting firm which continues to allow him to apply his skills and knowledge with a variety of clients. Currently, he has been directly responsible for for the creation of the wine tourism sector in British Columbia; the mountain bike tourism sector, the recreational trails strategy for British Columbia and was a driving force in the planning and launch of the British Columbia Rail Trail Network.
