Program Overview

This one-year certificate program provides a comprehensive Applied Science education allowing for transfer into second-year of university for Engineering studies. Courses cover a range of topics, from engineering design, chemistry, physics and calculus. Students benefit from one-on-one time with instructors and small class settings, preparing them with a solid engineering foundation before moving onto larger university settings.

Admission Requirements

B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent, or 19 years of age and out of secondary school for one year. Pre-requisites include English, Pre-Calculus, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. This is a condensed list; applicants must visit the Calendar listing for full details.

Intake Details and Costs

Courses may be completed in two different time frames:

  • Two-Term Program: Students begin in September and take 13 courses over two terms.
  • Three-Term Program: Students begin in the summer term with two courses, followed by five courses in the fall term and six courses in the winter term.

Continue Your Studies

Students completing the Common First Year Engineering Certificate are able to apply to second-year Engineering degree programs at various B.C. universities, depending on your final GPA.
