Garden plants

The na’ʔk’ʷulamən (na - kool - a - min) garden contains nearly 50 different plant varieties that are native to the region and are of significance to the Indigenous people of the region.

A long list of Okanagan plants was developed and reviewed for consideration in the garden by the Garden Task Force. The Penticton Habitat Garden was an excellent source of reference with plant lists along with those from the text Plants of Southern Interior British Columbia by Roberta Parish, Ray Coupe, and Dennis Lloyd, Lone Pine Publishing. A special thank you to Beryl Amaron, Department of Anthropology, Okanagan College, for developing a detailed guide about the plants found within the garden.
