The opportunities ahead of you are endless and Okanagan College’s Foundational programs offer you the boost you need to achieve your educational goals. Our dedicated teachers, small classes and individual attention will support you to get you where you want to be.
What inspires you in life?
The idea of expanding my knowledge and constantly achieving new levels of personal growth. I grew up in the small town of Blue River, B.C. and after I graduated high school I just felt stuck. I was so excited when I learned the College had programs for people with disabilities so I decided to leave town to expand my mind and my abilities.
What has been your favourite achievement in this program?
Oh, that’s an easy one – my favourite achievement was during the first year of my program when I was offered a summer job at the Salmon Arm RJ Heritage Village & Museum. My work there really helped me understand that I want a future working in the tourism industry.
After you’ve completed your program, what’s next?
I’ve been working on future career plans for a while and while I haven’t settled on an exact path yet, I’d think I’d like pursue a career as a tour guide or interpreter. I’m a big people-person and I love interacting with people from all around the world.
What do you like the most about Okanagan College?
The instructors take time to work with students one-on-one to help them succeed. They genuinely care about each student and their needs and help you figure out what career path you’d like to take.
I’ve always had a good feeling about the College. Everyone is so friendly and so incredibly helpful.
