Allan Coyle

Allan Coyle, Okanagan College's Director of Public Affairs, is a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society and has worked in post-secondary education in the Okanagan since 1998. Before that, he was owner of a successful public relations firm, and had enjoyed a career as a journalist and editor.

He has written extensively for magazines, and has volunteered his PR and marketing expertise to several non-profit initiatives and agencies. He recently finished an eight-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kelowna YMCA.

Tyler joined the Public Affairs team in April 2016. He earned a B.A. in English from UBC Okanagan in 2009, followed by graduate studies-level training in English and University Learning and Teaching from UBC, in addition to other training and professional development in Communications and Digital Media.

Prior to joining the Public Affairs team, Tyler worked as Marketing and Communications Specialist for the Okanagan College Foundation and as a communications, media and government relations manager in the non-profit sector. He has a passion for storytelling in all forms, from writing to photography and video, and in his spare time provides communications support to a number of youth, outdoor and mental health initiatives.


Michelle Lowry

Michelle joined the department of Public Affairs in July 2005, taking on the role of Executive Assistant to the Director.  She received a certificate in Office Administration from Okanagan University College in June 2003.  Since graduation Michelle has worked in the President’s Office, the Dean’s Office for Science, Technology and Health and Public Affairs.

Michelle works closely with the Director of Public Affairs, Manager of Recruitment, staff in Public Affairs and the President’s Office to organize events, such as Career Fair, the Spaghetti Bridge Building Competition and Convocation Ceremonies.

Holly joined the Public Affairs team in July 2017 as Marketing and Communications Specialist. Born and raised in Kelowna, she earned a B.A. in English from the University of British Columbia Okanagan in 2013 and an Advanced Certificate in Communications from Okanagan College in 2015. Upon graduation, she went on to complete a Certificate in Strategic Public Relations from the University of Toronto in 2016.

Holly comes to Okanagan College with a communications and marketing background in professional sports and local residential development as well as freelance writing, planning, and researching. Holly spends her spare time golfing and enjoying life with her family and husband.



Simone Blais

Simone joined the Public Affairs team in July 2018. She completed a Diploma in Journalism and Public Relations from Kwantlen Polytechnic in 1998, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in English from Simon Fraser University in 2011.

Before joining Okanagan College, Simone enjoyed a career in journalism as an award-winning writer and editor. Her transition to communications and marketing included experience within government, non-profits and the education sectors. In her spare time, Simone can be found reading and walking her dog around Kelowna trails.

Kate joined the Public Affairs team in March 2019 as a Marketing and Communications Specialist. Born and raised in Penticton, she moved to Calgary where she earned her B.A. in English and Communications from the University of Calgary in 2014.

Before joining Okanagan College, Kate spent most of her career working in the hospitality and wine industries in marketing and digital media roles, as well as writing for a number of publications. A valley girl at heart, Kate enjoys spending her free time at the beach, on the mountains, or exploring the new hot spots of Kelowna.

Katie joined the Public Affairs team in May of 2019 as a Marketing and Communications Specialist after six years on BC’s west coast. Spending her childhood and young adult years in Lake Country, she moved to Langley, B.C. to attend Trinity Western University to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication with a minor in Human Kinetics in the spring of 2018.

Katie comes to Okanagan College with a background in sports media and marketing, having worked in athletics at her alma mater and with the World Curling Federation at various world championship events. A true creative at heart, she appreciates the intersection of media and education and the opportunities that come when people share their story. When she isn’t at work, she loves to write, exercise, travel and eat charcuterie with her family.



Andrea Dodd

Andrea joined the Public Affairs team in March 2018. She earned an Event Marketing certificate from BCIT in 2004, followed by a Marketing Management diploma in 2006. Upon graduation, she went on to complete the UBC Award of Achievement in Social Media program in 2012.

Prior to joining Okanagan College, Andrea spent most of her career working in the tourism industry – most recently facilitating digital and social media marketing workshops for Destination British Columbia. Originally from the Lower Mainland, Andrea enjoys spending her spare time discovering all that the Okanagan has to offer.



Ginger Albrecht

Ginger joined the Public Affairs team in May 2018. She earned a B.A. in Journalism and Public Relations from Walla Walla University in Washington state.

Ginger comes to Okanagan College with a communications, publishing and project management background in healthcare marketing. She has also spent time working in the Public Affairs office at Walla Walla University. Away from the office, Ginger usually has a baking project or illustration in the works.



Kim Fukushima
Web Developer and Content Manager

Kim joined the Public Affairs team in July 2018 as Web Developer and Content Manager. She earned a BFA in New Media, specializing in web development and video production, from the University of Lethbridge in 2005, and a Project Management Certificate from Okanagan College in 2015. She started her career at the College in the Registrar’s Office as Student Information Coordinator in 2011 and brings a broad range of web development, content creation and communications skills to the team.

In her spare time you can find Kim digging in the dirt with her son, tending to their beehives with her husband or taking photographs of the world around her.


Len Nickel

Len is a fine artist and a designer. He is an Okanagan College graduate with a diploma in Graphic Design. Len also has a four-year diploma in Fine Arts from Emily Carr College of Art and Design and a diploma in Electronic Design. Len has worked in various positions in both in-house designer and freelance. He also has a background in Internet Design and Internet Graphics. Most recently Len has worked in Newspaper with a focus on ad design and brochure layout.

Len enjoys oil painting, digital painting, computers and reading up on science and physics.


John Wecelsl

John joined the Public Affairs team in May 2010. Having previously worked as Senior Designer with Mount Royal University in Calgary, John specializes in logo design, branding and illustration. John received his training at ACAD (Alberta College of Art and Design) and has over 25 years of experience providing design services for businesses of all sizes from multinational corporations to small independent start-ups.

When not at his desk, he can be found in some foreign land, at the beach or on the couch.
