Open Textbook Survey

The purpose of this survey is to establish baseline data on open textbook use at Okanagan College. Open education practices are growing throughout British Columbia. In fact, many faculty at Okanagan College have adopted and are adapting open educational resources (OERs) to help their students overcome cost burdens and make education more accessible. Open textbooks are one type of OER. OERs include, “teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use and repurposing by others. OER include full courses, course materials, modules, textbooks, streaming videos, tests, software, and any other tools, materials, or techniques used to support access to knowledge.”

This survey measures the adoption of open textbooks at Okanagan College in order to find out approximate savings for students. The results of this short, voluntary survey will be publicly available.  All fields are optional.

The Open Education Working group at Okanagan College hopes to organize activities that support open education in the near future. If you would like to learn more about how you can help students reduce the cost of textbooks, or if you would like to be notified of efforts to advance the adoption of OERs at OC, please provide your email address or join our group here:!forum/okanaganopen
