Board of Directors

Message from the Chair

Gladys FraserGladys Fraser was elected Chair of the Okanagan College Foundation in June 2019.

Fraser has worked with Scotiabank for more than 30 years, serving as a branch manager in Kelowna and Vernon.

Fraser is also an active community leader and is currently the President of the District Parent Advisory Committee in School District 22.

Previously, she has served as President of the North Okanagan Hospice Society, Leadership Chair with the United Way Southern Interior B.C., and the Vice-President of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce.

“I am delighted to be named chair of the Foundation board as I believe in the great work the College is doing for students and our economy. The College creates great opportunities for people to get a world-class education and not have to travel outside of the valley.

It’s an exciting time for the Okanagan College Foundation we are in a period of renewal. It’s a key time for us to look at the sustainability of our endowments while finding more opportunities to support students.

We are also at the beginning of a capital campaign for a new Health Sciences Centre on our Kelowna campus. The new Centre will reflect the rapid advances in health care and better serve our community with the creation of a state-of-the art modern training facility.

Whenever I meet with students I hear stories about how transformational the College has been in their lives. Students speak so enthusiastically about the faculty and staff. It’s energizing to be part of an organization that’s impacting so many people’s lives and our communities.

I'd like to acknowledge that I'm following great leadership. Sharron Simpson has served the board for six years, and the last two years as President. She oversaw the Foundation during a significant time of growth including four successful capital campaigns.

I look forward to working with each and every one of you to continue Okanagan College’s leadership and legacy in the Okanagan and beyond."
