Privacy of your Student Records
Please be aware that the student is responsible for all registration activities and any fees incurred. Freedom of Information and Privacy legislation prevents staff from releasing any information about a student's record or registration, to anyone other than the student. We must, therefore, deal directly with the student on any inquiries, transactions or appeals.
If, for any reason, you need a parent or other person to act on your behalf, and wish to give them full authority to do so, you must provide the new Okanagan College with a written release authorizing Okanagan College to provide information to that person.
A release should be specific about:
- the type of information you want Okanagan College to provide for you (e.g.. Fall registration and fees only, or information about your complete record).
- transactions you authorize the person to initiate on your behalf (e.g.. adding or dropping courses, changing sections).
- who are you authorizing to act on your behalf.
- your name and Student Number
- how long the authorization is valid (e.g.. one time only, etc.)
If you have anyone act on your behalf, remember that those actions will affect your academic and financial records, and you will be fully responsible for those actions. Therefore, you should always confirm your registration and review your timetable before the end of registration.
