Bob & Melanie Ashton during the past 38 years, throughout the seasons, Bob and Melanie have enjoyed traveling in their RV from Alaska to the Mexican Baja. Although they've been known to camp in full service parks, camping in the wilderness or on a beach has been even more fun. With solar power, they’ve enjoyed the comforts of home, including home-made bread and fresh baking. Boon-docking is their specialty. After his initial retirement, Bob became an RV tech (Okanagan College) who soon got so busy that he retired for the second time. After retiring from teaching, Melanie began researching everything in the RV industry from construction and marketing, to matching lifestyles and RV types. This year they finally found and bought the RV of their dreams.
Cacy Bouck is a Service Technician working directly for Blue Ox. Cacy has a vast amount of product knowledge thanks to traveling to RV Rallies, shows and defense events. His hands on experience with the products provides him expertise in how they operate, are installed and the many benefits they can offer RVers.
Joei Carlton Hossack is a solo, full-time RVer. She has been on the road in an RV since 1989 and RVing solo since the death of her husband in June of 1992. She travels and shares her knowledge with others through seminars and public speaking events and the 6 books she has written.
KC Chada is an avid camper having lived on 3 continents and travelled extensively for the last forty years. His love for outdoors started early as a Boy Scout in Kenya. KC graduated as an engineer and enjoyed a successful management career in high technology industry. Site promotes responsible RVing through education, testing new products and sharing best practices.
John Clarke is the creator for the web site www.sanidumps.com. Over the past several years he has been putting together a site that contains virtually all of the sanidumps in North America, Mexico and even several other countries. Along with this info he has a lot of information on all of the do’s and don’ts in regard to holding tanks and their use.
Al Cohoe is an Alberta, BC and US certified RV Technician. He started working for a RV manufacturer in 1972. For the past 39 years Al has worked on most aspects of manufacturing and repairs of RVs. For 24 of those years he has worked for Okanagan College, delivering and implementing RV Service Technician Training. He has been doing presentations to RV Owners for the past 16 years throughout USA and Canada.
Al Dadswell is the president of RV Direct Insurance. He has been RVing since he bought his first unit at age 19 and has owned and operated every type of RV since. He has worked with many educational facilities and has many professional insurance certifications. Al has made both RVing and RV Insurance his passion for many years and is sure to help you understand the complexities and “tricks of the industry” to help you “insure” that you have a safe and happy RV experience!
Arch Doody is the manager of Security for OC. He retired as a RCMP, where some of his duties included security for the Prime Minister; undercover crime and criminal investigation. He has worked as a bartender where he could listen to anyone and never mix a bad drink. As his 3rd career he is also an integral part of our Saturday evening live entertainment. He will be able to provide you with some great tips on keeping your travels safe.
Randy Engman is the chair of water quality technology department of OC. He is involved in all facets of water quality and at present he specializes in applications of ultra-filtration membrane assisted activated sludge reactors to industrial wastewater.
Reinhard Foerderer has an extensive background in culinary arts with 25 years as a chef in Germany, Switzerland and Canada as well as 6 years experience as a culinary arts instructor with Okanagan College. His favourite cooking is simple, tasty meals with a twist and great variety with a limited amount of ingredients while ‘On the Road’. He has some RV and camping experience, mostly in Europe (France).
Jim Ingram is a red-seal journeyperson RV technician and has been working in the RV industry since 1979 in all aspects of the trade. Jim has owned his own service business and is currently an instructor in the RV Service technician program at OC.
Jon Itterman is a red-seal journeyperson RV technician and has been working in the RV industry since 1990. He works as a part-time instructor for Okanagan College and the remainder of the time in industry.
Terry Lockhart is a red-seal journeyperson heavy duty mechanic with close to 40 years experience. He is an instructor in the heavy duty/commercial transport programs at OC.
Harold Lunner is the owner of Nova Industry Resources Ltd. and has been working with alternate energy industry for over 23 years. His business is renewable energy products, specializing in turnkey electric systems, utilizing the sun, wind and water.
Henry Kozminski is currently an assistant Director for the BC Good Sam Club, a member of FMCA, RVOABC, CSA, CARP, and AARP. They spend 5 months in Arizona each year and spend another couple of months travelling elsewhere. He also worked part time for Canadream campers for 4 years picking up both new and used motorhomes and other RV's checking them out and delivering them all across Canada. He has made many modifications to his units over the years.
Cam McRobb is a red-seal journeyperson Automotive Service Technician. He is an instructor in the automotive technician programs at OC. His specialties are tune-up and driveability problems.
Barbara and Tom Palmer have been RVing for 5 years. In the beginning, it was weekending and after retiring in 2009, they set off to travel around the US and Canada. By June 2012 they will have traveled more than 33,000 miles through 40 states and 5 provinces. They’ve stayed in private and public RV parks, state and national parks, relatives’ yards, and dry-camped at Quartzsite, wineries, farms, and Walmart. They have had great fun, made a few embarrassing mistakes that they enjoy sharing with others. In her prior life, Barbara was a life-long tent/VW camper, then lived and cruised on a 40’ sailboat with her family of 4, gaining much of her knowledge of comfortable living in small spaces. In his prior life, Tom owned a trailer at a summer-time leisure park – again, many of the lessons learned have translated to on-the-road RV life. They have taken part in the Life On Wheels seminar in USA and share much of the info they learned there and through their travels.
Barb Rees is a Mètis travel writer, author, photographer, and speaker. With husband, Dave, they have made four working holidays around Canada. Barb’s books include: “Lessons From the Potholes of Life,” “RV Canada On A Dime And A Dream,” “RV Canada With Boo The Menopausal Van,” and the latest “RV Canada’s Far North On A Dream.” Book four in the RV Canada series is due 2013. Barb is a Toastmaster since 2000 and she founded the Powell River Writers Conference in 2003 and continues to help organize it.
Jim and Alayne Sherb is the Director Western Canada of the Canadian Snowbird Association. This is his second term of two years in this position. As he winters in Indio, Cal he also works the western states. He has traveled to the states every winter since 1999; before that he has traveled to 32 countries around the world. Jim is a 20 year member of toastmasters and an independent trainer/facilitator.
Nic Verbruggen has been involved with electronics for nearly 40 years, retiring as an Electronics System Technologist with Nav Canada. While with Nav Canada he worked on everything from tube type radios in the earlier years to sophisticated satellite receiving units and became interested in hand held GPS when presented with a hand held GPS receiver as a retirement gift. From there he discovered geocaching a few years ago. Nic has been RVing for many years and enjoys combining RVing and geocaching.
John Wendt is a journeyperson RV technician, with 40 years experience. He instructed in the RV program for several years and is currently working with Cummins Western Canada as a representative for Onan.
Taylor Pro Training Ltd. has developed over the years from one instructor and one truck operation to a driver training and heavy equipment training facility. The experience their instructors have incurred driving both on and off road equipment ensures that students are in competent hands of a true professional. Taylor Pro Training Ltd. works in partnership with Okanagan College in delivering Airbrakes theory and Pre-trip inspection courses. Along with the above, Taylor Pro offers training in gaining experience in driving RV’s. |
