| The Culinary Arts Foundation program is based at the Kelowna campus, the modern kitchens, cafeteria, restaurant and coffee shop provide a realistic training environment - culinary students are encouraged to work within industry time-frame expectations. An Apprenticeship technical training credit for Cook Level 1 and Level 2 and 600 work-based hours for Level 1 and 240 work-based hours for Level 2 will be granted by the Industry Training Authority upon successful completion of this program. |
Apprenticeship combines paid on-the-job training, work experience and post-secondary classroom instruction. The majority of an apprentice’s time (80 per cent) is spent learning their skills and gaining experience on the job (under the direction of a highly skilled journeyperson) and approximately 20 per cent of their time is spent learning in a classroom setting. |
