Community Brain Injury Services Certificate

A rewarding career helping individuals suffering from brain injuries to return to their communities could be in your future with completion of the Community Brain Injury Services certificate program.

This program is designed to upgrade the clinical skills of individuals with work experience in related fields such as social work, nursing, or rehabilitation therapy. It is offered in collaboration with the G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre and the Brain Injury Program of the Interior Health Authority.

You'll learn about the structure of the brain and how brain injuries have wide-ranging consequences affecting how an individual moves, feels, thinks, behaves and communicates. The curriculum will demonstrate how a service provider collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to improve the quality of life for brain-injured patients reintegrating into their communities. You’ll learn about key rehabilitation theories and how to understand and use medical assessments in planning rehabilitation strategies requiring the participation of patients and families.
