Prior to attending the GIS Certificate Program I looked for work with my Geography Degree. Being that I was unable to find employment I took the program. Now I work for an unmanned aerial surveying company (we fly drones that take pictures of the ground). I process the data created by the planes.using GIS.

My experience at Okanagan College was awesome! I loved the facility, the program and my teacher, who I thought was amazing and a fantastic educator. I really do miss the friends and times I had while attending the program, and I really wish that there was more to the program because I had so much fun and learned so much during that time. My appreciation goes out the the school!

The program is current, and the course content is relevant. The instructors are very knowledgeable and extremely eager to help and answer any questions. The program has given me a very good GIS foundation for the workplace.

I took the five month program in GIS at the Salmon Arm campus and have since moved on to Graduate School and am working on my Masters in GIS. I think the instructors are great, I learned so much and really enjoyed the program but it is since I have moved on to my masters in the same field that I realize just how well they broke down all the topics and really gave us the skills we needed with the software. Not to discredit the program I am in now but the quality of instruction I received is far superior to anything I have received at the University level in GIS. I really think they deserve a lot of recognition for the quality of education they provide their students with. I would like to have them teaching some of my courses now!

I found the course remarkable. The instructor was good and very knowledgeable on the subject matter and the industry. It is important to have someone who has been in the field and knows what is going on. From all indications, he has kept current on the software and where the industry seems to be headed.

The material and information I learned during my time at Okanagan College’s ArcGIS program in Salmon Arm was extremely beneficial to my current job with StrataGold Guyana as a GIS Technician. There are many similarities between the information taught in the course and the work I do with StartaGold Guyana. The instructors knowledge and experience in the GIS industry was of great advantage. I currently apply the same methods that I learned in the course when doing many of my projects with StrataGold with excellent results and feedback.

The instructor was very good at making sure everyone was comfortable and understood what we were doing. Very knowledgeable and was able to speak at our beginner level! I was able to return to the office and actually do work with what I learned.

The course is great and you get in depth training on the basic ArcView 9.2 tools. The instructor was very kind and helpful. He made things straight forward and easy that I had previously had trouble understanding. A very good teacher and entirely approachable. A very good, basic intro to GIS with the ArcView 9.2. Very easy to understand, the instructor has an amazing ability to teach clearly so that the info is easy to learn and remember.
