GIS Certificate

The ArcInfo certificate program is an intensive 20 week program that builds on Okanagan College Salmon Arm's expertise in land information management. This program is designed to take students without previous GIS knowledge to an advanced level of competence using ArcGIS/ArcInfo running on Windows XP Professional.

The program is held Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am ~ 3:15 pm and is comprised of the following three courses:

  • GIS Basics and Applications
  • Programming and Automation
  • Advanced Arc/Info

All aspects of using ArcGIS are covered in this advanced program, including:
ArcMap, ArcToolbox, ArcCatalog, 3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst, Tracking Analyst and ArcIMS.

In addition, students will learn how to use GPS units to gather field data for later use in their GIS work.
