Research Interests

My research interests are related to the linkages between weather and surface processes in Arctic regions. This work examines how positive temperatures that lead to snowmelt and rainfall events result in surface sediment transport and ultimately deposition in a lake bottom environment. Sedimentary records recovered from these lake bottoms can then be used to reconstruct past weather and environmental changes. I also have interests in the development of microbial mat ecosystems in Arctic lake bottoms, low level atmospheric properties, climate change and climate change policy, and the history of the Arctic.
