Welcome to the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies is committed to social justice programming. All of our core programming areas -- Criminal and Social Justice, Women’s Studies, Indigenous Studies and Social Work -- help students develop competence in identifying the causes and consequences of social inequalities in culture and society by study across the academic disciplines.

The mission of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies is to generate and transmit knowledge through multi and interdisciplinary study and innovative pedagogies and community service. Students in our courses will deepen their understanding and appreciation of the complexities of research and study, not only across the disciplines, but also in their lived experience of social and cultural phenomena and problems. Our faculty is committed to help students imagine alternatives for the future, not just in social and cultural contexts, but in their own lives.
