Danijela Dujmic
When I graduated from high school I received a scholarship and used it to pursue a career in Culinary Arts. I enrolled in the entry level Culinary Arts program at OUC. During the program I was chosen to compete in the Western Culinary Arts Festival and won the gold medal for wedding cake decoration. The program was very motivating and provided me with the opportunity to meet chefs as well as participate in a galla dinner preparation at the Okanagan Grand.
I am presently working at the De Montreuil Restaurant and will be returning to OUC shortly to complete my apprenticeship training. I look forward to continuing my career in Vancouver.
Ake-anong
Prior to entering the Culinary Arts program at OUC, I taught high school in Thailand before immigrating to Canada. I took ESL (English as a Second Language) courses at OUC and then enrolled in the Culinary Arts program where I graduated "with distinction".
I am now working for the Grand Hotel where I have completed my apprenticeship and now have my Red Seal Journeyperson certification. While training at OUC, I learned a lot of valuable information from my instructors who were most helpful, easy to approach with questions and were always ready with fresh ideas and new techniques for me to learn.
Erich Strumpel
Erich graduated from the Culinary Arts program at OUC in 1995. Completing his apprenticeship via combined and diverse experiences at Kelowna's Lake Okanagan Resort and Vancouver's Westin Bayshor, Erich returned to the Okanagan to take the position of Lake Okanagan Resort's sous chef and, later, executive sous chef.
Coinciding with the recent sale of the valley resort, Erich became it's executive chef in 2001. Throughout his career, Erich has been committed to creative development through culinary competitions, and, has passed on this pursuit of excellence to those who have worked with him. Evidences of his competitive drive are many and varied. Most notably, Erich's innovative cuisine was awarded with an IKA 2000 Culinary Olympic silver medal.
