Intensive English Communication Program
Vernon Campus
- Classes begin monthly
- Focuses on developing speaking, listening and pronunciation skills
- 20 hours/week of classroom instruction
- Includes volunteer placements and field trips
This program focuses on:
- Developing strong English Communication skills that are transferable to the international marketplace.
- Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Levels offered every four weeks.
- Flexible program, based on individual needs and length of study.
- Encourages students to develop their communication skills in a safe, nurturing environment.
- Provides authentic language opportunities for students to connect with other college students, host families and the community.
- No pre-requisites.

DESCRIPTION |
|
Integrated Program (10 hours/week) |
In the Integrated Program students learn the foundational skills of speaking, listening, pronunciation, grammar, reading and writing through interesting and engaging themes. The goal of the program is to increase communication abilities through practical and fun learning experiences. |

Guided Learning (5 hours/week) |
Under the guidance of the Language Lab Instructor, students will focus on pronunciation, accent reduction, listening and fluency. |

Interactive Communication (5 hours/week) |
With a focus on the practical use of English through oral presentations, students will gain confidence and skills to understand and be understood in English. |

Volunteer Work Experience (5 hours/week) |
Students will be placed in volunteer positions within the community, where they will practice speaking English in real-life situations and gain work experience. A letter of reference will be provided upon completion of this course. |

Introduction to Canada (2 Field Trips per Month) |
Students will participate in two field trips per session to explore various , cultural, social and recreational aspects of Canada, e.g. , skiing, farm tours, nature hikes, industry tours, hockey games, snow boarding, winery tours and much, much more. |

Business Writing (2 hours/week) |
Business writing focuses on sentence, paragraph and essay development in addition to introductory business topics. Some examples of assignments include formal business letters, resumes, emails, blogs, argumentative, cause/ effect, comparison/ contrast and descriptive essays. |

Note: Guided Learning is ESL and pronunciation taught in the Computer Lab
