This program prepares students to work with young children in a variety of inclusive early childhood environments. Students will acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to work with children, families and the community in planning enriched programs and other early childhood initiatives that focus upon healthy early development.

Career Opportunities: Graduates may seek employment in daycares, preschools, and out-of-school care. Additional certification in Infant and Toddler care is also available.

Program Description

Students in this program participate in lectures, classroom simulations, group work, and practical application to achieve the necessary competencies in Early Childhood Education. Students who successfully complete only the first twelve months of the Diploma in Early Childhood Education may be eligible for a Certificate in Early Childhood Education.

This program is offered in Kelowna and Salmon Arm.

How to Apply

Applicants must attend a scheduled (mandatory) meeting with Early Childhood Education staff, to discuss his/her experience in the field. Applicants are requested to attend an orientation session during the year before their scheduled interview. Upon admission they must submit a completed criminal record check.
