Water Engineering Technology

This two-year diploma program provides training in the design, use and maintenance of water systems and wastewater and waste disposal facilities, and environmental monitoring.
Career Opportunities: Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator, Environmental Monitoring Technologist (i.e., Environment Canada), Water Resource Technologist, Water Conservation Program Coordinator, Pollution Control Operations Technologist, Lab chemical analyst, Water quality technologist (i.e., consulting engineering firms), Water specialist.
Program Description
This program provides training in the design, use and maintenance of water systems and wastewater and waste disposal facilities, and environmental monitoring. The analysis, distribution and treatment of water and wastewater as required by municipalities, water-use industries and environmental monitoring agencies are an integral part of the program. Courses include surveying, computer science, mathematics, English, physics, and environmental law. Emphasis will be placed on practical experience in analytical techniques, equipment maintenance and trouble-shooting, and data management.
Co-operative Education
This program offers an option to integrate classroom study with paid on-the-job work experience, where students alternate periods of paid employment with academic study.
