The Library
The Salmon Arm Library provides a wide range of services that support the educational needs of students, faculty, and staff from a variety of programs including first and second university programs in the arts, sciences, and business, as well as Adult Academic and Career Preparation (adult foundational programs including adult upgrading, Literacy, Adult Special Education, ESL) and Vocational Programs, LPN, Early Childhood Education, Home Support, GIS, Trades, and more.
Services include information literacy programs that range from individual and small group tutorials to classroom library instruction for all disciplines. It is our goal to integrate lifelong learning skills into library instruction at all levels---skills that will be carried on to future academic and employment ventures.
In the summer of 2003 the Library opened into an adjacent classroom, making room for not only the expanding collection, but also providing an open, collaborative, and dynamic space for student-centered learning including the Student Success Centre.

Deakin Collection of Children's Literature
Deakin Newsletter of Children's Literature
Dr. Andrea Deakin Feature Article
A unique feature of the OC Salmon Arm Library is an expansive, rich, and exemplary collection of children’s literature generously donated by a former Salmon Arm resident Dr. Andrea Deakin in memory of her late husband, Dr. Barry Deakin. Andrea was awarded the Okanagan University College Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters 2004 in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the arts, humanities, and social sciences in this region. Andrea is strongly committed to promoting the use of this collection to all levels of readers from community family literacy groups to Early Childhood Education, ESL, English Children’s Literature, Education, Literacy and Fine Arts, as well as to institutional partners elsewhere through interlibrary loans.
Okanagan College Salmon Arm Library, home of the Dr. Barry Deakin Memorial Children’s Literature Collection, is starting a Children's Literature Interest Group aimed at sharing information and reading experiences with Individuals interested in all areas of Children’s Literature. We look forward to meeting monthly or bimonthly in the local campus library to discuss and share this interest. Community memberships are available to use this collection. More news to follow.
