Southern Interior Development Initiative Trust - Entrance Awards for Trades and Technology

 


Okanagan College gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Southern Interior Development Initiative Trust, a trust created and funded by the Province of British Columbia to encourage, promote and support economic development in the Southern Interior of British Columbia.

Over a period of three years beginning in August 2008, Okanagan College will receive $984,000 for financial aid for students entering trades and technology programs at Okanagan College. Press Release

Continuing Studies Certificate Programs:


- Arc Info/GIS
- Audio Engineering & Music Production
- Esthetician
- Nail Technician
- Pharmacy Technician (in-class instruction, not distance education)

Eligibiity:

Applicants must:
 
a)  be entering full-time study in an eligible program which starts on or after August 1, 2010;

b)  be registered in a minimum course load of 80% (40% course load for students with a permanent disability);

c)  be in good standing;

d)  demonstrate financial need;

e)  be Canadian Citizens or landed immigrants.

Amount:

The number of eligible applicants will determine our ability to assist as many students as possible, to the extent of funding available.

1)    1st year Apprenticeship programs:  up to 50% of tuition (maximum $500)

2)    Pre-Apprenticeship or Entry Level Trades:  tuition credit up to $1,000

3)    1st year Engineering Technology, CIS or TTTE:  tuition credit up to $1,000

4)     Continuing Studies:  tuition credit up to $750
