The Program
The diploma program is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of business practices. Combined with experience and skills learned in the classroom, students will be able to progress to more responsible roles in accounting, marketing, financial services, hospitality, operations, personnel or general administration.
Accounting Option Information
Employment Focus
Students learn basic accounting, financial statement preparation and analysis, budgeting, tax return preparation and management decision-making. Computer applications for business are integrated throughout the program. This option prepares students to work in accounting firms, industry and government. Many graduates of this program have continued their studies and received professional designations as Chartered Accountants, Certified General Accountants or Certified Management Accountants.
Co-operative Education Work Experience
Students who satisfy the eligibility criteria will have an opportunity to gain valuable work experience by participating in paid co-op work terms. Such experience increases students’ employment opportunities and their value to their employers upon graduation.
Suggested Work Terms
- May - August (One 4 month work term)
- January - April, May - August (Two 4 month back to back work terms)

As the Tourism Industry gains in stature and economic importance, the need for professional attitudes and sector related skills is increasing at a dramatic pace. This program will provide the students with a blend of theoretical knowledge on industry functions and success criteria, as well as an opportunity to refine and develop their skills during the paid Co-op work terms. A graduate of this program will possess a commitment to the industry, a professional attitude about customer service excellence and all of the basic skills necessary to serve their employer and their guests efficiently and hospitably.
