Staff Bios


Kalamalka Campus (Vernon)

Jeanne Boekelheide
Jeanne serves as an Advisor at the Kalamalka campus. She has worked at OC in various capacities since 1990. She has been an elementary school teacher, a teacher of English as a Second Language to adults, academic secretary, and educational advisor. She has a BA in Education and Speech Therapy and her MEd (Counselling) from the University of Victoria. She really enjoys working with the diverse groups of people she meets at the Vernon centre.

Marilyn Alexis

Marilyn completed a Bachelor of Science degree at Trinity Western University. She serves as an advisor. Prior to that, she worked with First Nations' communities across Canada as a Solvent Abuse Community Intervention Team member. Her experience working with individuals includes facilitating workshops on community development and intervention, critical stress management, addiction awareness and prevention, and life skills training.

Kelowna Campus



Greg Fjetland
Greg serves as an educational advisor and came to OC in May, 1992 with a background in educational technology. He holds a BSc. degree from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Arts from Gonzaga University.

After many years of service at Okanagan College Greg still finds working with new or continuing students and assisting them in achieving their educational goals to be a truly rewarding and inspiring challenge.

Penticton Campus

John Mott
John serves as an Advisor at the Penticton campus. He has worked at Okanagan College in various capacities since 2006 and currently teaches in the Criminal and Social Justice Diploma program in addition to his advising duties. John has practiced law, worked for the BC and Yukon governments as a human rights and anti-discrimination officer, and has worked with students of all ages and abilities through his various work and teaching positions. John has a BA in English from the University of Victoria and a LL.B. from the University of British Columbia. John enjoys helping people navigate the many opportunities available to them at Okanagan College.

Salmon Arm Campus

Susan Cawsey
Susan has a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work, both from the University of British Columbia. She also has a Conflict Resolution Certificate from the Justice Institute of BC. Susan has worked at OC since August of 1995. Her previous work experiences were in the areas of counselling, administration, international development and school social work.

Shannon Kiehlbauch

Shannon completed a BA (Anthropology) from the University of Victoria in May 2000 and began working at Okanagan College in January 2004. She hopes to begin her Master of Counselling program through the University of Lethbridge in May 2010. Shannon also has work experience in the areas of college admissions and registration; anthropological/archaeological fieldwork; and the organization/implementation of educational and athletic programs for youth.
