Nurses scrub up for Hospice

Car wash, bake sale and barbecue
raise funds for Hospice House

News Release - August 31, 2007

Okanagan College’s Practical Nursing students will be holding a car wash, barbecue and bake sale on Saturday, Sept. 8 to benefit the "Holding Hands for Hospice" campaign.

The nurses in the Kelowna program decided to undertake the fundraiser because they want to support the palliative care offered by Hospice House, according to Mary Pazur and Suzanne Mitchell, two of the students who have dedicated themselves to the effort.

"Our classmates, Anne O’Keefe (manager of Hospice), the College, everyone is getting behind this idea," says Mitchell. "We’re hoping for good weather and a lot of public support," says Pazur.

The event will take place at the College’s KLO campus at the west end, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The car wash and barbecue will be by donation.
