Teleconference

Model A:
Instructor on telephone at home or in an office
Students with a conference phone in a classroom somewhere
Individual students on a phone at home

Model B:
Instructor & some students in one room with a conference phone
Other students in a different room with a conference phone
Individual students on a phone at home

Kelowna IT Services has:
K001 Mitel 5330 wireless conference telephone
K002 Polycom speaker
K003 Mitel 5303 Gray
K004 Mitel 5303 Silver

Penticton does not appear to have a conference phone available for signout

IT services has a 16-channel teleconference system. Put in an IT Services request to book your teleconference and you will receive dialup information.

Videoconference

Penticton’s videoconference classroom is C09B (seating for approx 24 students)
Penticton also has a portable videoconference unit suitable for desktop use.
Kelowna’s videoconference room is the S103B boardroom. (seating for approx 30 students)
We have borrowed the portable videoconference unit from Vernon and set it up to work on KLO campus.

Model A:
Instructor with portable VC unit anywhere on campus
Students in VC classroom at other campus.

Model B:
Instructor and some students in VC room at one campus

Webconference

Model A:
Each participant logs in from their own computer wearing a computer headset.

Model B:
Instructor logs in from their own computer wearing a headset.
Students in a classroom watching a single computer connected to an LCD projector. They use a USB speakerphone to hear and be heard.
Option - if no echo-cancelling speakerphone is available, the group can listen over the classroom sound system and respond via text chat.

Model C:
Instructor and some students in a classroom watching a single computer connected to an LCD projector. They use a USB speakerphone to hear and be heard.
Other students in a different classroom watching a single computer connected to an LCD projector. They use a USB speakerphone to hear and be heard.
Option - if no echo-cancelling speakerphone is available, the group can listen over the classroom sound system and respond via text chat.

WebCT
Asynchronous webspace to post files (documents, powerpoint, video, audio, hold text-based discussions. Every OC class already has its own WebCT space.

Videorecording
Videotape class, publish as flash video file to WebCT
Video cameras, tripods and microphones are available through AV booking.
