Health, Safety & Wellness
The Health & Safety program at Okanagan College is overseen by the Health & Safety Coordinator who is responsible for:
- providing advice and guidance to management and staff regarding safety issues
- development and implementation of Okanagan College's safety programs
- maintenance of the WHMIS program
- administration of the WCB/AIRS program
- development of emergency and safe work practices policies and procedures including Okanagan College's safety manual
- maintenance of records and statistics regarding Okanagan College safety
- overseeing Okanagan College's emergency wardens and first aid attendants
- liasing with Okanagan College safety committees and external groups and agencies

INFLUENZA UPDATE
Okanagan College is actively monitoring the outbreak of Influenza A (Human Swine Influenza) virus and will issue notifications when warranted to alert the College community of any concerns.
Human swine influenza has been reported in Canada, Mexico and the United States. For the most up-to-date information on the Human Swine Flu, please visit the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) at www.phac-aspc.gc.ca.
The Public Health Agency advises Canadians to:
- Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, or use hand sanitizer
- Cough and sneeze in your arm or sleeve
- Get your annual flu shot
- Keep doing what you normally do, but stay home if sick

- Check www.voyage.gc.ca for travel notices and advisories
- Talk to a health professional if you experience severe flu-like symptoms
