Librarian-Department Liaison Structure

Terms of Reference:

The librarian-department liaison structure ensures department involvement in the selection and maintenance of materials to support curriculum and instruction. Department library representatives make recommendations to the liaison librarian with responsibility for library collection development in the relevant subject area.  Department library representatives consult with their colleagues as needed to provide advice on:

  • Purchases of library resources
  • Collection review and assessment
  • Methods/format for external review
The liaison structure assists in the development of information literacy skills embedded in the curriculum. Department library representatives consult with their colleagues as needed to provide advice on:
  • Curriculum-related information literacy

Membership:
  • One liaison librarian
  • Minimum of one department library representative (college professor or vocational instructor)
