Funding Opportunities for Food, Wine & Tourism Students



Food, Wine and Tourism students can access a variety of funding opportunities that range from government grants to industry bursaries and awards. We encourage students to review the funding opportunities, determine eligibility and apply. For more information, access the links below. Please note this list is not exhaustive and many other funding opportunities can be found on the College's Financial Aid page

British Columbia Wine Information Society Bursary

The British Columbia Wine Information Society provides an annual award of $1,500 for a student entering full-time study in the Viticulture Certificate Program at the Penticton Campus of Okanagan College with a career goal of employment in the wine industry in British Columbia. The recipient must be a permanent resident of Canada. Selection of the award recipient will be based solely on financial need.

British Columbia Wine Information Society Scholarship

The British Columbia Wine Information Society has established an annual award of $1,500 for a student who has completed the Winery Assistant Certificate program at the Penticton Campus of Okanagan College with a career goal of employment in the wine industry in British Columbia. The recipient must be a permanent resident of Canada. Selection of the award recipient will be based on a combination of academic achievement and financial need.

Fairfield Inn & Suites Tourism Award

Fairfield Inn & Suites provides an annual award of $500 for a student who has completed the first year of full-time study in the Business Administration program at the Vernon Campus of Okanagan College and who will be returning to any campus the following September for a subsequent year of full-time study in the Hospitality & Tourism Management option of that program. The recipient must be a permanent resident of the North Okanagan, and must be intending to pursue a career in the tourism industry. Selection of the award recipient will be based on a combination of academic achievement and financial need, with emphasis on financial need.

Ramada Inn & Suites Viticulture Studies Award

Ramada Inn & Suites have established an award fund with the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan which provides three annual awards of $500 each for students pursuing a program of study in Viticulture, Wine Sales or Winery Assistant, with a career goal in the wine industry. Recipients must be permanent residents of (in order of preference): 1) the Okanagan College region, 2) British Columbia, or 3) Canada. Selection of the award recipient will be based on a combination of academic achievement and financial need, with emphasis on academic achievement. Recommendation from instructors and supporting documentation required.

Yakima Enological Society Awards

The Yakima Enological Society provides two annual awards of $1,000 each: one award for a student who has completed the Winery Assistant Certificate program at the Penticton Campus of Okanagan College, and one award for a student who has completed the Viticulture Certificate program at the Penticton Campus of Okanagan College. Recipients must be permanent residents of Canada. Selection of award recipients will be based on a combination of academic achievement and financial need, with emphasis on financial need.
