Instructor Biography: Wayne Van Damme, PMP
Wayne is an executive with over 39 years of progressive experience in information management and systems. He has obtained knowledge and understanding of a wide range of business issues for large and complex organizations in both the private and public sector. Wayne has proven skills in leadership along with strategic and operational planning, customer service, timely delivery of large complex projects, team building and staff development. Wayne has facilitated over 100 workshops and uses plenty of illustrations, examples and real life experiences to offer sessions that are useful and practical. As a Project Management Professional (PMP), he is part of the highest standard of Project Management certification in the world.
MGR 368 - Construction Estimating
This comprehensive two-day course takes learners though the process of developing a winning proposal or bid. The course is designed for experienced professionals who would like to upgrade their skills as well as new entrants to the construction industry. Course topics include the legal requirements of proposals and bids, risk analysis, competitor analysis, response to proposal calls, private vs public bids, bid depository, supplier and sub-trade quotes, estimating direct and indirect costs, bonding and insurance.
The course is instructed by industry professionals and includes a simple estimating program. Students must have a laptop with Microsoft Excel 97-2003 or later installed.

MGR 359 - Construction Project Management
This two-day workshop provides learners with proven knowledge, tools and techniques to improve project quality and performance in a construction contracting environment. Learners move through a project cycle including project bidding / proposals, through project implementation to the project completion phase.The workshop also addresses organizing project teams, material and labour acquisition, responsibility for pre-construction activities, working with owners, consultants and regulatory officials, contracts and legal issues, inspections and site safety. Learners are provided with best practices for successful projects through a case study type of format.
The course is relevant to seasoned construction professionals who wish to improve project performance and construction team members who want to advance their career. The workshop is designed for people engaged in small to medium sized construction projects.
