Machine Design
Mechanical component design and analysis is covered including failure and fatigue theories, shafts, gears, belt and chain drives, power transmission, bearings, clutches, brakes, and springs.
Technology Mgmt and Quality
Project management, production process planning, quality assurance, and statistical process control are studied.  Students apply Microsoft Project and Excel software to assist in engineering decisions.
Thermodynamics
Applications of thermodynamic principles are examined including steam power systems, gas power cycles, performance and efficiency, heat engines, and refrigeration and heat pump cycles.
Hydraulics and Pneumatics
Hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and components, control circuits and schematics, pumps, and flow control are studied.  In the lab, students create, operate and analyze hydraulic circuits on a hydraulics lab trainer.
Computer Applications I
Parametric solid modeling is one of the main design tools used in mechanical engineering.  This course introduces students to the latest version of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire and Pro/sheetmetal.
Automation
The design of production and manufacturing automation technologies are introduced, including feed and conveyance systems, work cell and assembly line design, automation sequencing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
Electronic Technology I
Electronic Technology I includes electrical laws and theorems, magnetic and electromagnetic field concepts, AC theory, transformers, three-phase AC circuits, DC motors and generators, and OP amps.
