Catherine Fitzgerald

Catherine Fitzgerald, M.A., CCC, C.H.R.P.

Catherine Fitzgerald is a professor in the management and human resource management (HRM) options with the Okanagan School of Business, at Okanagan College with over 25 years combined teaching experience with Western Canadian universities and colleges. Cathy has played a leadership role in the development, delivery and evaluation of 13 human resource management classroom and online courses with the resource support and knowledge-sharing of Okanagan College colleagues and industry partners.

Since 1987, Cathy has managed a successful Human Resource Management practice consulting to over 50 Western Canada organizations. Cathy has assisted both private and public sector organizations deal with resource allocation and service delivery changes resulting in workforce adjustment and reduction over the past decade.

Cathy has completed certificates in leadership, human resource management, information technology, organizational learning and development, career development, conflict management and negotiation and has a M.A. from the School of Management, J.F.K. University. Cathy also holds the designation of Certified Human Resource Professional and Certified Canadian Counsellor and is currently pursuing her PhD in Management with the guidance from internationally recognized researchers and dedicated professors at the Sobey School of Business, Saint Mary’s University.

Cathy authors instructors and student’s learning support materials for the Nelson textbook Series in HRM. She has reviewed both textbooks and journal articles for Canadian and international publishers as well as presented HRM papers at national and international conferences.

Cathy has been recognized by WorkSafe BC for her contribution to the safety of young workers and by BCHRMA for her leadership and excellence in HRM.
